Jamboree on the Trail happens every year, on the second Saturday of May
Jamboree On The Trail is an annual day for the World Scout Movement to hike together. All Scouts, whatever their age and wherever they may be in the world, are invited to participate in whatever way they can.
In their own way, everyone will be hiking the same direction: towards a better future through Scouting.
Every year sections from Kyle and Carrick District Scouts take part in Jamboree on the Trail. Kyle and Carrick District Scout Groups all regularly go hiking (and love it!)
Beavers Scouts
3 different Beaver Scout groups decided to get together and have a fun day of walking and games. The 12th Ayrshire Beaver Scouts (Kingcase), 14th Ayrshire Beavers Scouts (Prestwick) and the 18th Ayrshire Beaver Scouts (St Columba) all joined the JOTT on Saturday 14th May 2022. There were over 40 young eager Beavers ready to start their walk at the Blackburn Carpark in Ayr (next to Ayr India). The Beavers were aged between 6-8 and they walked 4.8 miles carrying big sticks and leaping over burns, along Ayr Beach, turning at the River Doon for a rest/play at Belleisle Park. The Beavers enjoyed an ice lolly, drink and some fun group games on the lawn in front of the old house. Then back to Ayr Beach front with a well earned badge to be greeted by their parents.
Cub Scouts
17 energetic Cubs (aged 8-10 half) from the 14th Ayrshire Scout Group (Prestwick) did their JOTT along Prestwick Beach, starting at Prestwick Sailing Club and then walked along the Costal Path towards Ayr. They made it as far as the Blackthorn Salt Tower and the Sunken Puffer off Ayr Harbor and back. It was a great afternoon – a bit windy but exhilarating for the young people! The Cubs walked over 2k.
Scouts
12 Scouts (aged 10 half to 14) for the 14th Ayrshire Scout Group (Prestwick) walked the trail around Cornish Hill, which is south of Straiton, starting at Stinchar Bridge. They saw the Stinchar falls and ate their lunch in truly breath taking place. The young people planned their walking route by map reading, made hot chocolate on the trans stoves along with a good bit of teamwork!
Well done to all the young that completed their JOTT 22 badge world wide.
