14th Ayrshire Scout Group Spreading A Little Christmas Joy

The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts of the 14th Ayrshire Scout Group (Prestwick) have been busy collecting Advent Calander’s and selection boxes for the children’s cardiac ward 1E at the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow and Ronald McDonald House Glasgow. After a heart felt appeal from local boy Dylan who has complex heart defects, attending the hospital regularly for check ups and operations. All the young people asked family and friends to donate to the appeal . The Group managed to collect over 100 advent calendars and selection boxes for Dylan’s Appeal which he will deliver to the sick children and their parents over the festive period, hopefully bringing a smile to their faces. Well done 14th Ayrshire Scout Group for your generosity. 🎄❤️

Ballantrae celebrate St Andrews Day

Ballantrae 2nd Ayrshire Scouts took part in a campaign organised by United Auctions to promote eating lamb on St Andrews Day in the same way we would eat haggis on burns night , with that in mind we organised a dinner and invited local farmers and community members to join us for a lamb supper and what a great turn out we had , Serving 84 people with a delicious lamb , roast potatoes and vegetables followed by apple crumble and custard all locally ! The evening was a huge success and we have already had requests for our next event a huge thank you once again to United Auctions for providing us with the beautiful lamb and giving us the opportunity to hold this event, thank you also to Girvan Early Growers for the potatoes and Laigh Kilphin for the carrots.sourced

Creative Beavers

Some of the 14th Ayrshire Beavers (Prestwick) have been doing their creative badge.

Their creations have been outstanding.

Sandy our resident Lego builder, builds a Lego scene after every adventure he has with the beavers. From the climbing wall at Dumfries House to a fire engine from Ayr Fire Station to our camp at the Science Centre. The detail is truly fantastic.

Jamie and Harris decided to write and illustrate some short stories that they read to their fellow beavers. Who knows they could be the next David Walliams.

Our final creator of 2019 was Jonah who made a short film using stop start motion. Jonah presented his short film to the group where he was asked questions about it. From the idea to the music is brilliant.

What creative young people we have in our group. It’s so good to see how each Beaver is inspired by the last. Keep it up boys we all can’t wait to see what you create next year.
